CHICAGO (WLS) -- Several protesters were arrested downtown after they blocked off part of Michigan Avenue during this evening's rush hour.

They're demanding the University of Chicago re-open its Medical Trauma Center, which closed in 1988.

Protesters say most South Side residents live far from any trauma centers, resulting in unnecessary deaths.

They rallied outside the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, where the University of Chicago was holding a fundraiser.
