ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) -- Police are investigating after two people were found dead inside an Arlington Heights motel.

Police said a man and woman were found dead Thursday afternoon in a second floor room at the Motel 6 on Algonquin Rd. Other guests said the pair had been staying at the motel for the last several weeks.

Investigators have not said how they died, but said the case is currently classified as a death investigation.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths are unclear at this time, but investigators were seen going through a dumpster at the end of the property.

"If it was a, you know, a horrible situation like a homicide, then that person's gone. And I hope they find him," said Gregory Ross, a motel guest.

A guest who didn't want to go on camera reported hearing several loud crashing sounds, almost like furniture breaking, coming from the room in question around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police have cordoned off a large section of the motel complex, but the hotel continues to operate.

"I need to get out of here, so we're making arrangements actually," said Deya Suarez, a hotel guest. "I didn't really feel it was dangerous around here, so it is a cause for concern."

People who work nearby said the motel has long been a magnet for drug activity, but police have not said whether foul play was involved.

Employees at the Motel 6 referred questions to their corporate office. ABC7 left a message with Motel 6 but has not heard back.
