ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. (WLS) -- Police have stepped up patrols in Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village after a female jogger was attacked Sunday night.
Police say that the 31-year-old victim was jogging in the woods near Grove #4 when a man attempted to sexually assault her around 6:40 Sunday night. The victim had pepper spray and used it on the attacker, police said, then was able to run away and call police.
Police describe the offender as a white male in his early 30s, approximately 6 ft. to 6 ft. 3 in. tall and clean-shaven. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and gray sweat pants. Police released a sketch of the suspect on Monday.
The victim was treated at an area hospital for minor injuries and then released. The Cook County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
