Escaped Iowa inmate captured by Illinois State Police

HENRY COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- An escaped inmate from an Iowa jail was taken into custody by an Illinois State Police Sunday morning, officials said.

An abandoned vehicle located by the Henry County Sheriff's Department was suspected of being stolen by Justin James Kestner, an inmate who managed to escape from the Fort Madison facility.

Kestner was located while he was walking along Illinois Route 82 near Geneseo by an Illinois State Trooper at 9:52 a.m. Sunday. Kestner fled into a corn field, and when he exited was taken into custody and transported to Henry County Jail.
