Dog fighting ring busted, Maywood police say

MAYWOOD, Ill. (WLS) -- Maywood police removed at least two dogs from a home on Second Avenue in the western suburb after breaking up an alleged dog fighting ring.

The dogs were placed into the custody of Animal Control, officials said. A man at the home was also arrested.

Neighbors were reluctant to talk, but said it wasn't uncommon to see people with dogs heading into the basement of the home. Some of the animals would come back out bloodied and injured, they said.
