CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago man claims that someone broke into his apartment and took his dog.

Adam Johnston said when his dog Barnaby didn't greet him Monday evening, he thought the dog might be sick and hiding.

Johnston said quickly realized Barnaby was gone. Johnston said it appears someone pried open his door. But the only thing missing was his West Highland White Terrier.

"I don't care how it happened, what happened, who it is," he said. "I just want him back. I want to know he's safe. If you bring him back, no questions asked. I really don't care."

Johnston said anyone with information about the dog should call Chicago police.
