LISLE, Ill. (WLS) -- A man tried to lure two children, 5 and 7, into his vehicle with the promise of toys and a game of "hide and seek," police in southwest suburban Lisle said.

"I think he was watching for awhile. It literally happened before we left. So quickly, it's scary," Rachel Finnegan said.

The Lisle Police Department issued an alert to warn residents about the attempted child luring on Thursday morning. No one was injured.

Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, the siblings - a 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl - were approached while playing in the courtyard area of an apartment complex on Warrenville Road just west of Yackley Avenue. They began walking toward the vehicle, but an older sibling intervened and took them home.

The family then called police.

The offender is described as a white male who is tall, skinny and in his 30s with balding hair and a scraggly beard. He was wearing red Chicago Bulls T-shirt and jeans.

He left the area in a maroon Chevrolet Equinox, police said.

Anyone with information should call the Lisle Police Department Investigations Unit at (630) 271-4200.
