Joliet man charged with breaking infant daughter's leg

JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A Joliet man is charged with breaking the leg of his 1-year-old daughter.

According to the Herald News, police were called to Silver Cross Hospital on July 19 for suspicious injuries to a child.

Martin Silva was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated battery to a child, domestic battery and endangering the life of a child.

Police say the injury was not an accident. They say Silva grabbed his daughter by the arm and swung her over his shoulder.

The baby is now in the care of another relative.
