Girl, 16, shot in Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO -- A 16-year-old girl was shot Friday evening in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

The girl was shot in the lower back about 7:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 81st Street, police said.

A male fired several shots in the girl's direction, but she is not thought to have been the intended target, according to a police source. The shooter then ran away.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition had stabilized, police said.
