HUNTLEY, Ill. (WLS) -- A car that was supposed to be sold to benefit the family of Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz will now be auctioned to help the family of a different officer who recently died.

The 2002 California Highway Patrol Camaro was originally purchased to aid the Gliniewicz family but has been gathering dust since news broke that Gliniewicz committed suicide. He staged his death to appear as a murder on Sept. 1, 2015.

The car, which was originally covered in decals dedicated to Gliniewicz, has been restored by its owner to its former look and glory as a highway patrol vehicle. The proceeds from its auction will benefit the family of Huntley police officer L.J. Marak who died after a two year battle with cancer.
