OAK PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- An arrest warrant has been issued for Mark Barnes, 43, in connection with an assault and home invasion that occurred in Oak Park last month.

Police investigation linked Barnes to the site in the 1000-block of South Oak Park Avenue where police say a 27-year-old woman was assaulted, bound and robbed on May 27.

Barnes, whose address is unknown, was released from the Illinois Department of Corrections in April after being convicted of criminal sexual assault with a firearm in 1997. His last known address was in Maywood, police said.

He is described as a 6-foot-1 African American man weighing around 190 pounds. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Oak Park police at 708-386-3800.
