Cab driver fatally shot in North Lawndale robbery attempt

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The cab driver who was fatally shot during an armed robbery attempt in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood has been identified as 51-year-old Chinedu Madu.

Police are searching for the shooter, who investigators said have been a customer who tried to rob the victim in the 1200-block of South Albany Avenue around 9 p.m. Thursday. Madu was shot in the chest.

Madu, of the 500-block of East 33rd Place, was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
