CHICAGO (WLS) -- Dozens of guns are off the streets of Chicago tonight thanks to a gun buyback event on the city's South Side.

It was hosted by Father Michael Pfleger and Saint Sabina Church Saturday afternoon.

The first 180 people ages 16-to-30 who turned in a gun received a $100 gift card or a pair of adidas shoes.

All guns were accepted with no questions asked.

"If we can get folks to have the opportunity, no questions asked, you know just turn a gun in, decide this isn't a way to handle our problems," Fr. Pfleger said. "We've gotten 60 or some guns in already today. However many we get in, it's not about the numbers as much as getting a gun off the street."

Father Pfleger says no church money or money from the archdiocese was used to buyback the guns.
