CHICAGO (WLS) -- Steven LaVoie, who was wounded in a shooting at his Loop office in July, has died.

His wife, Jody, released a statement on Monday.

"Steve's body has succumbed to his numerous injuries," she wrote on the CaringBridge website. "I had truly hoped to tell a different story now about his recovery, and for so long I believed he would be with us again. But know that the man you all remember so dearly, fought so bravely. Steve brought great dignity and beauty to all of our lives these past months."

LaVoie, 54, was shot in the head and stomach on July 31, 2014, by a longtime coworker, Tony DeFrances. DeFrances then turned the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

LaVoie had been hospitalized since the shooting, and at one time his condition was upgraded and he was sent to rehab.

LaVoie founded ArrowStream, located in Chicago's financial district, in 2000. His company released a statement, "ArrowStream will miss its Founder, leader, mentor, and friend, while it continues to advance Steven's vision for bettering supply chains for current and future customers."

He is survived by his wife, Jody, and three adult children.

Services will be held Friday, October 17 at 6 p.m. at LaGrange Country Club and on Saturday, October 18 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange.
