CHICAGO (WLS) -- Terence Doddy, 36, who is wanted in connection with two murders in Illinois, was arrested in the Town of Beloit, Wis., after a highspeed chase with police.

Doddy is suspected in the murders of Todd Hansmeier and Tonya Bargman. Hansmeier's body was found at the Rockford call center where the two worked on Monday. A day later, Bargman was murdered at a I-39 rest stop near Paw Paw, Ill.

Doddy was seen on surveillance video driving away from the rest stop in Bargman's vehicle, police said, which triggered a nationwide manhunt for Doddy and the car. A Rockton, Ill., police officer spotted the vehicle Friday morning near the abandoned Sand Trap Bar. While waiting for backup, the vehicle fled the area, officials said.

A short time later, an Illinois State trooper tried to pull over the vehicle in South Beloit, Ill. According to police, Doddy was still behind the wheel, and he drove off when the trooper attempted to stop him, leading police on a chase across Illinois and Wisconsin state lines.

The pursuit ended on Highway 81 in Wisconsin after Doddy lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital in Rock County, Wis., for treatment of non-life threatening injuries from the crash.

"The cooperative effort and fast response of our District 16 troopers, Zone investigators and police partners in Winnebago, Rockford, Rock Island, and Beloit should be recognized as solid police work," said Illinois State Police director Hiram Grau. "Our thoughts are with the grieving families who have lost their loved ones and our hope is that this arrest will bring some closure to their pain."

Doddy is being held on a first-degree murder and domestic battery warrant obtained by the Rockford Police Department. Upon release from the hospital, he will be transported to the Rock County Jail pending extradition.
